School is now in session

Well the first week of school is over now and so far I haven’t been expelled or labeled a troublemaker so I would say things are going well. Not that I was expecting to have any trouble of course but it’s fun to be dramatic when the reality is so mundane.
One thing I have noticed, other than the fact that there are a lot of students younger than me, is that as soon as I get back into school (or any organized learning) my “daydreamer” gene kicks in right away. I can’t really help it. Is it a defense mechanism against boredom? Is it my brain deciding to work more efficiently with downtime? Am I just a complete attention-deficit flake? Probably a little of all of those.
I’ve already come up with some extra ideas for scenes from one of my scripts and some more conceptual ideas for an even older script that I haven’t thought about in ages. I suppose it’s a good thing as it doesn’t take any time to write them down when I get them, it just tends to take my mind away from the task at hand.
Most of the other students in my program are OK. I’m starting to recognize most of them but I’ve really only talked with a few of them. It’s a mixed bag of people. I’m not the oldest by any stretch but I think I’ve definitely got the most library experience. Just listening to how some of them talk about the public library lets me know they have no clue what it’s like to work there. I haven’t the heart to tell them so early in the program.
The majority of them are women so if any guys are interested in finding a lady, it appears to be one of those programs, like Art History or Drama, that usually gives the males a definite advantage in numbers. However, unlike Drama or Acting, the type of woman in the program might not be quite the same. There’s a certain library “type”. (Although I have to say that that stereotype seems to be changing.)
I also seem to be the cheapest one in all these classes. So far, I haven’t purchased one textbook and am doing my best to not purchase any if I can help it. I think I’ll be forced to at some point but I’ll go down fighting the textbook industry as best I can.

Line of the day: In Business Communications the teacher asked everyone to say their name and their favorite hobby as a way for him to identify and remember everyone in the class. It went to an asian girl who had an accent.
“Your hobby?” He asked.
“Cok-ain” She replied.
Stunned, the teacher said, “Cocaine?”
The class erupted with laughter.
The girl repeated herself “cook-aine”
The teacher got it. “Cooking!”

And this is why communication is essential in business.

Most of my classes are pretty straight forward and they're off to a slow start but I can see that it will pick up rapidly very soon. I'm already trying to get the jump on a couple of assignments and get them finished well before they're due. I've also been looking ahead to future projects and have started preparing for them.
Yes, it's true, I've turned into a nerd.

I think one of the subjects we'll be covering is "blogging" so I guess I'm doing homework right now. Hey, pretty cool.
Do I get bonus points for this?
